Job Description
We are seeking a Lead Consultant (P4) to join an ever growing Security Team in Canberra. You will provide security services, technical advice, and innovative solutions to a range of external customers. This role is ideal for an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer looking to work closely with product development teams and shape future security solutions. You will also mentor junior staff and contribute to the enhancement of the clients security products.
Duties and Responsibilities
✔ Lead the design of technical security solutions for customer environments
✔ Implement, document, and test security solutions in client networks
✔ Configure and manage system auditing policies across enterprise systems
✔ Develop and configure data ingestion, translation, and normalisation processes
✔ Analyse vulnerabilities, threats, and incidents, enhancing cybersecurity toolsets
✔ Conduct system upgrades, performance tuning, and security monitoring
✔ Develop reporting, alerting, and monitoring solutions for customers
✔ Troubleshoot system errors and implement mitigation strategies
✔ Contribute to SOC processes, investigations, and risk mitigation initiatives
✔ Mentor and develop team members to strengthen security capabilities
Education/Certifications Required
🎓 Degree in Computer Science (Cyber Security) or equivalent experience
🎓 Industry certifications such as CompTIA, ISC2, GIAC, Cisco, Microsoft (highly desirable)
Knowledge/Skills Required
Must-Have:
🔹 5+ years of Cyber Security experience
🔹 Experience with ArcSight or similar SIEM tools (Splunk, LogRhythm, Fortinet, etc.)
🔹 Knowledge of NiFi & Kafka cybersecurity tools
🔹 Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server)
🔹 Proficiency in .Net & Java application programming
🔹 System administration experience (Linux & Windows Server)
🔹 Scripting in Java, Python, PowerShell, or Linux
🔹 Strong understanding of regular expressions
🔹 Familiarity with containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes)
🔹 Excellent logical reasoning and problem-solving skills
🔹 Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice-to-Have:
✅ Prior experience as a Software Consultant
✅ Security industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, ISC2, GIAC)
