Cyber Security Operations Analyst
Are you passionate about cyber security and want to make a difference in safeguarding Australia? A leading federal government agency is seeking a skilled Cyber Security Operations Analyst to aid in the identification and remediation of cyber security related incidents.
Estimated start date: Monday, 13 January 2025
Initial contract duration: to 31 December 2025
Extension term: Up to an additional 24 months.
Job Closing: Thursday 05 December 2024
Location of work: ACT
Security clearance: Must have Negative Vetting Level 1
About the Role
As a Cyber Security Operations Analyst, you will be responsible for detecting and coordinating incident responses to threats, both foreign and domestic, against critical systems.
The successful applicants will undertake monitoring of the ICT environment and key systems to aid in identifying and remediating cyber security-related incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect of cyber security related data for analysis, evaluation, and identification of the root of the attacks against the ICT environment and key systems.
- Implement required cyber security actions to counter attacks and restore system operations.
- Work together with the internal ICT team and business areas to communicate about security limitations and produce documentation or reports.
- Undertake cyber threat hunting exercises and providing threat intelligence to the entire team.
- Partake of mentoring and training as identified
- Assist in the development of standard operating procedures related to cyber security incident response
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Experience using Sentinel or a similar SIEM solution is essential
- Familiarity with the Australian Government Information Security Manual
- Familiarity with the best practice cyber security monitoring processes
- Experience in cyber incident response
Desirable Skills
While not mandatory, the following skills are highly desirable:
- Experience with cyber security monitoring for or within other Federal government entities

- Character clearance, including a police check
- Negative Vetting Level 1
- Must demonstrate political neutrality
- Must be an Australian citizen
- Willingness to work shifts as required during critical periods.
