Cybersecurity Operations Specialist

Location: South Australia
Contract Duration: Initial 9 months (end date 30 June 2025) with a potential 12-month extension
Security Clearance: NV2

Overview:
Cleared Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Operations Specialist, to join a cutting-edge Defence Organisation. This position is integral to the Cyber Security Risk Team, responsible for coordinating governance, risk, and compliance assessments across research networks and systems. You will be collaborating with internal teams to monitor, implement, and strengthen cybersecurity policies, aligning with Defence standards and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Security Monitoring & Detection: Monitor and analyse security events, alerts, and logs to identify potential security breaches.
  • Incident Response: Engage in incident response, conducting investigations, containment, recovery, and ensuring detailed documentation.
  • Threat Intelligence & Research: Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity threats and trends, advising on proactive security measures.
  • Security Framework Expertise: Demonstrate deep knowledge of ISM, DSPF, and PSPF frameworks and ensure compliance in daily operations.
  • Client Support: Provide guidance to clients, clearly explaining security policies, standards, and procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 4+ years in Security Operations, Incident Response, and Threat Hunting.
  • Strong expertise in ISM, DSFP, and PSPF frameworks.
  • Experience in Windows security concepts (GPO, AD, MFA).
  • Familiarity with Linux platforms.
  • Knowledge of security infrastructure (Firewalls, Routers, IPS, Switching).
  • Experience with security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, XDR, and MDR.
  • Strong understanding of current cyber threats, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in documenting cybersecurity processes.

Key Attributes:

  • Self-motivated and passionate about Threat Hunting and cybersecurity analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.

Advantageous Qualifications:
Certifications such as SEC+, SYSA+, Cloud+, CISSP+, GSEC, HCIH, GSNA, or CRISC are highly regarded.

Working Arrangements:

  • Flexible working arrangements, minimum 3 days onsite.
  • Full-time equivalent (FTE) hours per week.
