Job Description

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and engineering accountability within a high-performing data and geospatial delivery environment. You will be responsible for the design, sustainment and continuous improvement of enterprise geospatial dataflows and analytics pipelines that support mission-critical operations.

Operating within secure and highly regulated environments, you will ensure geospatial dataflows are reliable, scalable, repeatable and aligned with customer, contractual and regulatory requirements. You will act as a senior technical authority in geospatial and spatiotemporal data engineering, guiding less experienced engineers, advising stakeholders and driving uplift in engineering maturity.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Provide senior technical leadership and accountability for geospatial data engineering delivery

· Own end-to-end performance of geospatial dataflows, including ingestion, transformation, validation and delivery

· Lead the design and implementation of enterprise geospatial dataflows using tools such as Apache NiFi and FME

· Develop and manage complex geospatial ETL workflows, data models and embedded data quality controls

· Act as a technical escalation point, driving root cause analysis and resolution of complex data and pipeline issues

· Drive continuous improvement, governance alignment, documentation and mentoring to uplift team capability and engineering practices

Education/Certifications required

· Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Data Engineering, Geospatial Science or related discipline

Knowledge/Skills required

· Extensive experience delivering enterprise-scale dataflows and integration solutions

· Strong background in geospatial or spatiotemporal data within enterprise environments

· Proven ability to design, implement and maintain scalable, automated data pipelines

· Expertise in data integration tools such as Apache NiFi and FME

· Strong SQL, data modelling and performance optimisation capability

· Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, PowerShell)

· Experience ensuring data quality and governance in regulated environments

· Strong stakeholder communication, professional judgement and continuous improvement mindset
