Senior Systems Administrator - Federal Government Department (Intelligence Community)

Location of work: ACT, QLD, VIC, WA

Clearance: NV1 minimum

Contract: 36 months!!

Cleared Recruitment is collaborating with a Federal Government Department within the Intelligence Community to find a NV1 Senior System Administrator to join their integrated team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to critical national defence and security initiatives. As part of a merit pool, positions are available immediately, with future opportunities to arise. This position is suitable for candidates who can work in a complex, high-paced environment with rapidly evolving technological needs.

About the Role:
We are seeking experienced Systems Administrators to lead and manage system administrative support activities within a key capability domain. You will work in a fast-paced environment, managing system installations, configurations, and providing ongoing hardware and OS support. This is a senior role where you will mentor team members, contribute to design reviews, and engage with a variety of stakeholders, ensuring processes and procedures are continuously improved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of multiple systems, ensuring operational efficiency and security.
  • Utilise automation tools for continuous system configuration management and process improvement.
  • Provide guidance and uplift the capability of other team members, ensuring that tasks are prioritised, allocated, and executed effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with system administrators, software developers, and other stakeholders to enhance systems and processes.
  • Engage with diverse stakeholders, navigating a complex business environment and offering technical and business process advice.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and project details in alignment with ASD policies and standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, stakeholder meetings, and Agile processes to continuously improve team efficiency and project outcomes.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proficient in operating systems, networking, database management, and security protocols.
  • Experienced in installing, repairing, and maintaining network systems and proficient in programming languages.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and mentor a team of systems administrators while ensuring effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in working in complex business environments and agile processes, offering strategic insights for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Security Clearance:
Candidates must possess a NV1or above security clearance.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must complete the departments Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement or within 12 months.
