Support Officer

Cleared Recruitment is proud to partner with the Department of Defence in the search for a committed NV2 ICT Support Officer to contribute to a significant Defence project, based in either Canberra or Sydney. This position is crucial in advancing the Royal Australian Navy's modernisation efforts, ensuring it stays at the forefront of operational excellence.

About the Role:
As a Support Officer in Defence, you will be integral to delivering a cyber-hardened, integrated mission system, enabling the Navy to effectively 'fight and win at sea'. Your role will involve managing and supporting the Navy's ICT systems, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and ready for deployment.

You must have at least a Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance before commencement of work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and support on-premises messaging infrastructure in a multi-forest, distributed environment.
• Integrate complex ICT infrastructure software and applications with messaging systems.
• Proactively maintain, patch, and upgrade the distributed enterprise.
• Develop and implement defect remediation strategies.
• Analyse, log, track, and resolve complex messaging issues.
• Create and peer review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other technical documentation.
• Provide user management for Minerva systems and support level 1, 2, and 3 queries for all Minerva-capable ships.
• Occasionally assist in offsite training of ship CIS on Minerva systems.
• Manage certificate renewals, patching, and change management.
• Engage with vendors to address issues related to Minerva systems.
• Maintain incident priorities to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
• Continuously upskill on Minerva-specific applications to provide top-tier support to the Navy.
• Update and create knowledge articles to assist ship staff with troubleshooting.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Extensive knowledge of Exchange and Active Directory (AD) administration, Microsoft Skype administration, and Message Transfer Agents.
• Experience with XMPP chat tools, Lotus Domino products, and VoIP trunking.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Carry phone, be on an on-call roster

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Familiarity with technologies such as Nutanix, Fortinet, Cisco networking, Citrix, Red Hat, and more.
• Previous experience with Minerva and ADF CIS reporting processes.
• Flexibility to work after-hours or on weekends as required, with a rotation on-call schedule.
• Canberra or Sydney-based.
