Job Opportunity: Senior DevOps Engineers (3 Positions)

Contract Duration: Initial 12 months, with possibility of extension (up to 24 months total)
Clearance Level Required: Positive Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance
Working Arrangement: Onsite
Maximum Weekly Hours: 40 hours
About the Role:
Cleared is supporting The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), who is seeking three experienced Senior DevOps Engineers to support its critical mission in defending Australia against global cyber threats and advancing national interests. In this high-impact role, you will work directly with a team of developers, testers, and systems administrators to enhance and maintain ASD's cutting-edge platform tools and capabilities.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will take a lead role in automating and optimizing the continuous delivery pipeline, ensuring the efficiency, security, and reliability of systems that are vital to national defence and cyber security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with development, testing, and systems teams to implement and support the automation of deployment processes using Java, Python, or Bash scripts.
- Drive continuous improvements in deployment automation and observability to enhance platform tool performance and reliability.
- Identify potential release engineering risks and collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate them effectively.
- Develop and maintain real-time performance dashboards, monitoring application metrics, and ensuring systems operate at optimal levels.
- Support the design, testing, and maintenance of the CI/CD pipeline, contributing to successful software delivery and systems automation initiatives.
- Provide leadership in DevOps practices, driving continuous integration, delivery, and automation across the development lifecycle.
About You:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A strong IT infrastructure background with expertise in DevOps methodologies, cloud architecture, and automation.
- Experience in CI/CD pipelines and proven ability to manage complex system integrations.
- Leadership capabilities to inspire teams, challenge conventional methods, and contribute to innovation in a dynamic environment.
- A desire for accountability and effective stakeholder management while driving outcomes in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven expertise in DevOps, automation, cloud platforms, and infrastructure management.
- Familiarity with programming and scripting languages like Java, Python, and Bash.
- Experience in the design and deployment of complex systems, and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
- Ability to manage project timelines, deliver on objectives, and collaborate across multiple teams.
- Strong administrative skills and time management, ensuring successful delivery within budget and on schedule.
Essential Criteria:
To be considered for this role, candidates must demonstrate the following skills and experience at a Senior (EL1 equivalent) level:
- Availability Management (Level 4 - SFIA)
Experience in analysing and improving service availability, reliability, and serviceability; ensuring system resilience and implementing disaster recovery procedures. - Methods and Tools (Level 5 - SFIA)
Ability to advise on, select, and implement appropriate tools and methods, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and enhancing development processes. - Programming/Software Development (Level 4 - SFIA)
Design, code, test, and document complex programs/scripts, ensuring high-quality software and system integrations. - Systems Design (Level 5 - SFIA)
Design large or complex systems, balancing functional and non-functional requirements, and ensuring effective application of design methods, tools, and techniques. - Systems Development Management (Level 5 - SFIA)
Manage development projects, ensuring that systems are delivered in line with security requirements, architecture standards, and business objectives.
About ASD:
The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is responsible for protecting Australia's national interests through foreign signals intelligence, cyber security, and offensive cyber operations. As a statutory agency within the Defence portfolio, ASD plays a crucial role in defending Australia against emerging cyber threats and ensuring the security of national infrastructure.
