Cleared is always looking for the next best talent to match with our specialised Defence SME's across Australia and right now we have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Project Design Engineer to support design, integration, testing, customer requirements and modelling of critical systems and parts for Defence application as well as other major industries within Aus and overseas.
Those with experience in FMECA, RCA, continuous improvement and test and evaluation are highly suited to this team. Those with a hands-on approach to problem solving will be key players to the team and projects.
Must be Australian Citizens with the ability to gain a Defence Security clearance.

Location: Moorabbin Airport, VIC (S.E suburbs)
Title: Project Engineer - Mechanical Design
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Deliver engineering & technical solutions meeting customer requirements and exceeding quality expectations, utilizing CAD and CAE systems as required, in accordance to standards and quality procedures. Support tender response preparation activities, and team and project activities & goals.
- Liaise with customers and key stake holders to understand and meet technical requirements.
- Support and / or undertake Project Management as required, including budgeting, scheduling, supplier performance and resource management ensuring high quality outcomes.
- Provide engineering assessment input during customer design reviews.
- Undertake analysis using engineering tools such as DFMAs, DFMEA, Risk Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis
- Review and apply customer specified standards and relevant regulations to prepare system requirements.
- Prepare and conduct test and evaluation programs.
- Ensure Mechanical Engineering activities and results are communicated to all team members.
- Undertake system design Safety analysis, Maintainability analysis and trade off analysis of technical proposals.
- Analysis of structural and mechanical parts and components using FEA, classical methods and/or testing.
- Prepare Contract Documents (Eg, UHB, EMEI, DID's)
- Prepare, review and approve work instructions.
- Coordinate and manage release of CAD and SOWs to suppliers, manage schedule, inspection and acceptance of supplies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of IDES QMS processes, standards and methodologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree within Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automotive or similar.
- 4 - 8 years hands-on mechanical design experience
- A team attitude and willing to help those around you in the workplace as needed
- Willingness to grow and develop
- 2D/3D modelling and drafting and CAD experience
- Experience with quality assurance, customer and supplier management and technical reporting and data input
- MUST be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance
