Mechanical Engineer

We have some awesome opportunities available across the Defence sector and our latest role for a 3-month contract supporting a key client of ours designing in-house military communications and signalling systems working with a world-class team where you will be exposed to the full engineering life-cycle from design, manufacture, test and deployment.

Role: Mechanical Engineer

Location: West Melbourne

Project: Military

Role and responsibilities:

• Design and model mechanical and electronic systems as required to meet Project objectives
• Assist the Engineering Team in Certification Testing
• CAD modelling and drafting
• Overmould engineering support
• Plan, define, develop, and document functional, systems, acceptance, and performance and certification tests to uncover defects, improve the overall quality of hardware elements and to demonstrate compliance with the specification.
• Create hardware designs, verification documents, production plans, work instructions and quality control documents in support of the product design, development and manufacture process.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical, mechatronic or robotic engineering
• Ability to evaluate hardware products/components
• Experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD package
• Ability to undertake hardware test design
• Experience working in a team environment
• Full working rights in Australia, Aus Citizenship ideal

Desirable

• Experience in military systems design, test and integration
• Understanding of the life-cycles of defence projects
• Well-developed communication skills (both written and oral)
