Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you interested in utilising your skills within a dynamic team working on exciting projects? We currently have an opportunity in Canberra for a Chief Engineer to join a leader in their field.
This is a critical role within the business that will be responsible for leading the systems engineering efforts for various projects through the product/systems life cycle.
This is an amazing opportunity to work on state-of-the-art systems in Defence whilst showcasing your engineering expertise. You will be responsible for project development, requirements definition, architecture and design definition & analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Lead systems engineering efforts for various projects
- Provide technical authority for all engineering aspects of the program, including hardware, software, support, and testing
- Ensure technical collaboration with hardware & software design functions
- Derive system requirements, define the test requirements and participate in system design and system requirements reviews
- Design and develop military systems and equipment including testing, integration, installing and managing the systems and equipment
- Foster a working environment that is focused on meeting the requirements of customers, both external and internal
- Perform the integration and validation of complex system designs
- Responsible for design and development activities
- Exercise Design Authority
Skills & Experience required:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and hold Professional Chartered Engineer status in accordance with Engineers Australia requirements (or equivalent).
- Experience in leading and running multi-disciplined engineering teams within Defence (or similar industry) projects, particularly in Sustainment projects.
- Possess leadership skills to guide and motivate teams. This includes the ability to lead without authority, to delegate tasks, to provide clear directions and to inspire collaboration and partnership.
- Have a deep understanding of Defence engineering frameworks (eg LMSM) and standard methodologies.
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships (eg understanding partner requirements and leading expectations).
- Preferably have experience in satellite communications, communications systems or ICT systems.
- Be skilled at critically analysing complex problems, determining root causes and proposing effective solutions.
- Have a continuous improvement mindset. Proactively identify areas for improvement, implement process enhancements, and drive efficiency in the engineering services provided.
- Must be an Australian citizen and have an active Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1))
- Must meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements.
