IT Manager (Manager of IT Systems) - Defence Sector | NV1 Clearance Preferred

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Manager (Manager of IT Systems) to oversee IT operations across Australian sites, ensuring security, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Location: Can be based in clients Perth or Sydney offices (occasional interstate travel required)
Clearance: NV1 preferred or ability to obtain security access to defence establishments, Australian Citizens only.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide IT support across multiple Australian locations, ensuring compliance with security protocols and industry best practices.
  • Oversee IT infrastructure, managing incidents, service requests, and ensuring business continuity.
  • Lead and manage third-party IT service providers, ensuring their performance meets business requirements.
  • Drive IT security initiatives to protect business systems and maintain data integrity.
  • Manage small IT projects, including system enhancements and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance IT service efficiency and business operations.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service, ensuring IT support queries are resolved effectively.
  • Implement and oversee incident and change management processes.
  • Provide strategic advice to leadership on IT investments and future technology initiatives.
  • Work closely with end users to identify where technology can streamline business processes.
  • Participate in Group IT projects and cross-departmental initiatives as required.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Qualifications in IT, Service Management, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong technical understanding of server and networking technologies and protocols.
  • Experience managing third-party IT service providers and vendor contracts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Exchange, and enterprise desktop software solutions.
  • Hands-on experience in Incident Management, including expectation setting and communication.
  • Familiarity with Change Management processes and ITIL methodologies (ITIL Foundation certification desirable).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to IT service delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, requests, and project priorities.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, maintaining professionalism and adaptability.

Security Requirements:


Due to the nature of this role, you must be an Australian Citizen and eligible for a Baseline or NV1 Security Clearance. Preference will be given to candidates with an active NV1 clearance.
