Linux Engineer

Location: Belconnen, Canberra, ACT

Clearance Required: Australian Citizenship with NV1 Security Clearance (mandatory)

About the Role:
Cleared Recruitment is seeking a skilled Red Hat Engineer for a permanent opportunity with a leading organisation delivering secure infrastructure solutions to government and enterprise clients. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and experience working in complex, highly governed IT environments.

You'll be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing RHEL systems, implementing automation, and ensuring secure and reliable infrastructure across multiple environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage RHEL systems
• Develop automation tools and scripts for provisioning, configuration, and monitoring
• Conduct performance analysis, system tuning, and capacity planning
• Identify and resolve performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and system bugs
• Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations and processes
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver infrastructure solutions

Requirements:

• 5+ years' experience as a RHEL Systems Engineer
• Proficiency in automation and scripting (Shell, Python, Ansible)
• Strong understanding of RHEL internals (filesystems, networking, kernel tuning, security)
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite
• Familiarity with virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware)
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
• Relevant Red Hat certifications (RHCE, RHCSA) - desirable
