Job Summary
We are seeking a Linux Engineer to join the Canberra consulting team. In this role, you will deliver and implement Red Hat infrastructure solutions on‑site, working closely with customers to understand their environments, resolve issues and recommend improvements. You will act as a trusted advisor, supporting architecture, deployment, troubleshooting and performance optimisation of Red Hat technologies.
This role also involves mentoring other consultants, contributing to best practices, and supporting internal initiatives to strengthen consulting capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, engineers and project managers to deliver the right solutions
- Serve as a subject matter expert on‑site, addressing technical, development and IT issues
- Lead architecture, deployment, troubleshooting and performance tuning of Red Hat infrastructure technologies
- Support system architecture definition, software specification, design, testing and deployment of open-source solutions
- Contribute to internal initiatives, consulting white papers and knowledge base updates
- Respond to incidents, escalations and exceptions in a professional manner
- Guide implementation teams, monitor project progress and ensure high‑quality outcomes
- Continuously learn and apply new technologies to meet customer needs
Requirements
- 3+ years' experience working with enterprise customers on development and deployment projects
- Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Hands‑on experience with Red Hat Automation products (Ansible, AAP)
- Knowledge of infrastructure technologies including:
- Red Hat Satellite
- Authentication services (IdM/IPA)
- Virtualisation technologies
- Knowledge of Linux security practices and tools to address common criteria
- Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving and project management skills
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification, or willingness to achieve within 90 days
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
