The consulting team partners with Federal Government clients to design, deploy and optimise OpenShift container platforms and associated technologies, ensuring secure, scalable and reliable solutions.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced OpenShift SME to join the Canberra consulting practice. In this role, you will deliver enterprise‑grade container solutions, working closely with customers to understand their environments, resolve issues and recommend improvements.

You will act as a trusted advisor, supporting architecture, deployment, troubleshooting and performance optimisation of OpenShift and related Red Hat technologies. The role also involves mentoring other consultants, contributing to best practices, and supporting internal initiatives to strengthen consulting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment and optimisation of OpenShift container platforms in secure government environments
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, engineers and project managers, delivering tailored solutions
  • Provide subject matter expertise on OpenShift, Kubernetes and containerisation best practices
  • Support system architecture definition, software specification, design, testing and deployment of open source solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across container platforms and supporting infrastructure
  • Contribute to internal initiatives, consulting white papers and knowledge base updates
  • Mentor junior consultants and support capability uplift within client teams
  • Ensure solutions align with Defence and Federal Government security and compliance frameworks

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in consulting or enterprise IT delivery roles
  • Strong expertise with Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and automation tools (Ansible, AAP)
  • Knowledge of container security, DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM/IPA) and virtualisation technologies
  • Strong understanding of Linux security practices and compliance frameworks (ISM, Essential Eight)
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration (or equivalent) - highly regarded
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) - desirable
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Australian Citizenship with NV1 clearance minimum
