Working Arrangement
Onsite, between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays and shutdown periods). Maximum 40 hours per week.

Clearance required
Active TSPV Security Clearance. Candidates must be Australian Citizens and willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA).

Job Description
The Lead Data Administrator / Data Manager will be accountable for the administration of a range of databases across varying technologies. This role requires specialist abilities to provide deep technical knowledge and expertise in database domains, with responsibility for planning, organising, integrating, delivering, and sustaining complex databases under broad direction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in database administration across Oracle and Linux environments
  • Develop scripts and automate tasks to improve efficiency and industrialise solutions
  • Manage complex PL/SQL, containerised and pluggable databases, auditing, scheduler, patching, and proactive monitoring
  • Configure and manage Data Guard (physical and logical standby)
  • Troubleshoot Oracle databases and resolve complex restore issues
  • Administer backup/restore processes including Flashback, restore points, and Commvault management
  • Implement and manage security including account creation, privileges, wallet/key creation, and OKV familiarity
  • Apply knowledge of Oracle Exadata architecture and features
  • Configure EMCC jobs and debug outputs
  • Demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Perl
  • Desirable skills include Oracle APEX and Golden Gate proficiency

Education/Certifications required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • Relevant certifications in Oracle, Linux, or database administration highly desirable

Knowledge/Skills required

  • Advanced Linux administration (shell scripting, crontab)
  • Strong Oracle database expertise including Data Guard, Exadata, EMCC
  • Proficiency in PL/SQL and database management tools
  • Backup and restore expertise including Commvault
  • Programming skills in Java, Python, or Perl essential
  • Strong troubleshooting, proactive monitoring, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead and mentor technical teams
