Principal Cyber Security Analyst - DFAT

Job Description
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join the Cyber Operations Section within the Cyber Security, Cloud and Networks Branch. This role is critical to the protection of DFAT's global network and involves advanced defensive cyber operations, incident response, and collaboration with threat intelligence teams.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist with log operationalisation and use case creation for newly onboarded systems/log sources
* Monitor and improve cyber security systems
* Develop and maintain playbooks to support cyber security tasks
* Analyse security events and logs to identify anomalous activity and recommend enhancements
* Undertake incident response and remediation
* Support threat hunting activities
* Collaborate with threat intelligence teams

Knowledge/Skills required
* Demonstrated experience in cyber security operations
* Strong understanding of log analysis and security event monitoring
* Experience with incident response and threat hunting
* Familiarity with the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) - Security Operations (SCAD) at Level 5 or above
* Ability to develop and maintain operational playbooks
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
