Our client is leading the charge in engineering and IT solutions for some of Australia's most critical defence projects and is in need of an experienced Project Manager with an engineering background to help delivery, sustain and drive project outcomes for a key maritime sustainment contract for the Royal Australian Navy. Those with prior Maritime defence project experience and an understanding of commonwealth procedures, ASDEFCON and military systems integration are encouraged to apply.

Role: Project Manager level 3

Role and responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and execution, including tracking and reporting on Project Deliverable status (CDRLs etc)
  • Draft Project Reports for Deputy and Project Director review
  • Management and Development of high-profile Project Communications including Ministerial Briefings, Senate Estimates Briefs and Media Comms
  • Drafting formal correspondence in response to contractual issues
  • Project Support including establishing key project meetings, and ensuring the outcomes of the meetings are accurately recorded (to Defence Standard)
  • Management of PO's including the review of invoicing, ensuring evidence is in accordance with contractual requirements, and recommending any further actions that may be required
  • Supporting Defence procurement through managing the drafting and processing of procurement approval documentation (ETP, AE643's)

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate would have high levels of initiative and problem solving, previous Project delivery experience within defence, have a developed understanding of PM principals including scheduling and commercial and contract management, as well as the ability to communicate effectively on shipbuilding and Naval Acquisition topics.
  • Ability to work within a team and provide guidance and contractual support
  • Formal qualifications in Project Management or Engineering
  • Defence Industry knowledge and ASDEFCON
  • Australian Citizen, ITAR compliant and holds a current or reinstatable Defence security clearance
