The Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) is the Australian Government's premier agency for delivering cutting-edge science and technology support for national defence and security. Within DSTG, our Digital Science, Science Computing (DSSC) Team plays a pivotal role in the strategic planning, management, and support of eResearch services across the DST Group.

Position: Project Manager

Location: ACT, SA, VIC

Start Date: Monday, 16 September 2024

Contract Duration: Initial 12 months with potential 6-month extensions (up to 2 extensions)

Working Arrangements: Flexible arrangements will be discussed

Security Clearance: Negative Vetting Level 1 (mandatory)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to lead and manage complex ICT projects within our DSSC Team. This role requires proficiency in various project methodologies, including both iterative and waterfall approaches. You will be responsible for overseeing project scope, schedule, and budget while effectively managing risks and stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage complex ICT projects, ensuring successful delivery on time and within budget.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans using Microsoft Project to manage schedules.
• Identify and mitigate risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
• Engage with stakeholders at all levels, fostering strong relationships and ensuring clear communication.
• Utilize strong client engagement skills to understand and address client needs effectively.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience in managing ICT projects using iterative and waterfall methodologies.
• Expertise in scope, schedule, and budget management.
• Strong risk and issue management capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project for scheduling and project management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
• Strong client engagement skills.
