Senior Business Analyst

Contract Role
Location: Canberra (on-site)
Security Clearance: TSPV required

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support the delivery of complex ICT and capability-based projects within a large, government and defence-related environment.

This role will contribute to the delivery of advanced geospatial and intelligence capabilities, supporting critical programs aligned to national security outcomes. The successful candidate will work across multiple projects, eliciting and translating business and technical requirements, and supporting the delivery of integrated technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Elicit, analyse, and document business and technical requirements across complex programs of work
• Model current and future state business processes to support capability delivery
• Ensure requirements align with broader organisational strategy and technology direction
• Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders, project managers, architects, and delivery teams
• Facilitate workshops, stakeholder engagement sessions, and requirements validation activities
• Collaborate with Agile delivery teams to translate customer needs into deliverable outcomes
• Support backlog management, prioritisation, and refinement of user stories
• Identify risks and issues related to requirements and contribute to mitigation strategies
• Support change management activities, assessing impacts and ensuring effective communication
• Contribute to continuous improvement of business analysis practices and methodologies
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members where required

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst within large-scale ICT or transformation programs
• Experience working in government, defence, or intelligence environments (e.g. AGO or similar)
• Strong experience across Agile and/or Waterfall delivery frameworks
• Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and translate complex requirements into clear outcomes
• Experience working with cross-functional delivery teams (architects, developers, testers)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process modelling skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

• Exposure to geospatial, intelligence, or data-driven capability environments
• Experience contributing to business cases, feasibility studies, and solution design
• Understanding of enterprise technology strategy and digital transformation

This is a senior-level role, responsible for leading business analysis activities across significant programs of work and contributing to strategic decision-making and capability outcomes.
