Senior Network Engineer

Position: Senior Network Engineer (EL1 level)
Location: Australia (Canberra preferred, hybrid working)
Employment: Permanent or contract

About the Role:

We're partnering with an Australian-owned Systems Integrator that's excelling in Network, Cloud and Security. Known in Canberra for a strong culture, skilled teams and supportive environment, they deliver high-quality outcomes across government and private sectors.

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure supporting federal government projects. You will ensure network reliability, security, and performance, while leading troubleshooting, optimisation, and network initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise networks across multiple sites

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise network performance

• Implement and enforce network security policies and standards

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

• Ensure compliance with relevant frameworks, including ISM and Essential 8

Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience with LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs

• Strong knowledge of network security principles and tools

• Experience with government network standards (ISM, Essential 8) preferred

• Proven problem-solving and leadership abilities

Requirements:

• Minimum NV1 clearance

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT/Network Engineering or equivalent

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
