Do you consider yourself a communications RF specialist looking to take a career further in the Defence industry? We are seeking a qualified Senior RF Communications Technician to join a growing team in light of recent project announcements and future funding for Defence government requirements. You will play a critical part in a inviting team supporting installation, repair and upgrade of SATCOM, RF and military communications systems for the ADF and overseas Defence forces.
Permanent full-time with a rewarding salary + overtime and travel required on occasion.

Company profile: We design, engineer, procure, manufacture, install, commission and maintain a variety of communication systems for military and commercial use in urban, remote and harsh operating contexts.

Role: Senior RF Communications Technician

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake both scheduled and unscheduled repair, maintenance, and assembly of specialised RF Communications equipment.
  • Perform testing of Communications equipment using specialised RF Test equipment and document results.
  • Diagnose faults, investigate issues with existing systems, and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Develop technical artefacts and documentation, including ECPs, Technical Drawings, Technical Notes, Test Reports, and WI/SOPs.
  • Participate in the company's on-call roster for periodic and scheduled after-hours coverage of company's contract obligations at customer sites are met, including responding to after-hours helpdesk callouts to triage customer issues, and/or attending the site.
  • Follow all work instructions and collaborate closely with fellow Technical Support team members and the Engineering Services team.
  • Supervise, support, train and mentor Communications Technicians, and new or junior team members as required.
  • Ensure product compliance and maintain records to support safety and compliance.
  • Plan and execute ongoing testing and compliance documentation updates for active products / components.
  • Communicate complaint issues requiring expedited review or legal involvement to management and facilitate resolution.
  • Comprehend customer requirements, make appropriate recommendations, and build positive relationships with customers.
  • Read and understand complex technical drawings to meet client requirements.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures (HSEQ, HR, etc.) and demonstrate ongoing commitment to system and process improvements.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as an RF Technician, preferably with maintenance of complex HF, UHF and Satellite communications systems.
  • Sound fault finding techniques, with ability to diagnose and rectify (to component level)
  • Manage complex technical problems
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and related documentation.
  • Must be an Australian citizen and hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
  • C Class Driver's License.
  • Tertiary qualification or similar in field of RF, Electronics, Communications, Mechatronics or similar
