Job details
The Commercial Application and Delivery Section within the Business Solutions Branch of DFAT's Information Management and Technology Division, has a requirement for a labour-hire resource to fill the role of Salesforce Solution Lead.
As a Solution Lead, you will lead one or more teams of Salesforce developers to deliver on project requirements. You will work closely with customers from project kick off to go live, collaborating with the business analyst to illicit requirements, and working with the Architects to design a solution. You will champion config over code, leveraging out-of-the-box features, and best practice when customising. You will present your designs to the Design Integrity Forum to meet approved patterns, and work with the Architects if new design patterns are to be introduced. You will manage Salesforce releases through the CI/CD Azure Dev Ops pipeline and manage the Salesforce development environments.
You will work as a trusted advisor and provide evidence based, thoughtful and impartial guidance, and work to achieve the best outcomes for DFAT at all times. You will need a deep technical understanding of the Salesforce platform and be able to communicate your vision effectively to different project stakeholders.
The required technical qualifications include:

• 
  Certification as a Salesforce Platform Developer I.

• 
  Certification as a Salesforce Administrator.

• 
  Certification as a Salesforce Platform Developer II (desirable).

• 
  Certification as a Salesforce Omnistudio Developer (desirable).

Key duties and responsibilities
This is a delivery leadership role, with the following responsibilities:

• 
  Interpret and assess business needs to design tailored Salesforce solutions that align with client objectives.

• 
  Develop and present solution prototypes and technical designs to demonstrate feasibility, maintainability and value.

• 
  Lead the technical Salesforce delivery team to ensure a successful implementation and delivery.

• 
  Review developers' implementations, champion best practice and out-of-the-box solutions, recommend improvements.

• 
  Ensure project delivery meets the requirements for an authorised technology within the Federal Government space including Cyber Security Information Security Manual controls, and records management requirements to meet the Archives act.

• 
  Manage the delivery of multiple concurrent system development projects from design through to release.

• 
  Define project-level delivery activities and milestones within an agile environment.

• 
  Manage Salesforce releases through the CI/CD Pipeline using DFAT's Azure Dev Ops tooling.

• 
  Ensure quality of production environments by collaborating with other Solution Leads on common components, release windows and enforcing unit tests and code quality checks.

• 
  Manage Salesforce development environments including but not limited to test data seeding and refreshes.

About the team
The Commercial Application Section (CFS) in the Business Solutions branch delivers critical ICT solutions to enable the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT) to efficiently perform its function. We have a broad and varied capability scope across the business areas of DFAT, from Crisis and Consular services; Event Management; HR Ticketing and Trade; ensuring a very interesting and crucial workload. Criteria
The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a one page pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters.
Essential criteria
1.

• Minimum 5+ years experience in a leading role in delivering enterprise level Salesforce projects.
  2.
• Have specialist ICT skills in the following:
  o Deep technical expertise in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura, and front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML/CSS)
  o Strong proficiency in declarative configurations such as Flows, Permission Sets, and Security Models.
  o Demonstrated experience with Salesforce Service Cloud, ideally within the Public Sector Cloud, including case management and omni-channel routing.
  o Strong capability in Salesforce solution design, including preparing technical documentation, solution diagrams, and alignment with enterprise architecture and compliance frameworks.
  o Demonstrated experience in tracking and troubleshooting errors in development, configuration and deployment.
  o Demonstrated experience in managing releases through Azure Dev Ops CI/CD Pipeline.
  3.
• Excellent communication skills and experience making persuasive, evidence-based, recommendations that allow decision-makers to make informed decisions.
  4.
• Minimum NV1 security clearance.
  Desirable criteria
  1.
• Portal and console interface design using Salesforce Lightning and Omnistudio.
  2.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining an Azure Dev Ops CI/CD Pipeline for a Salesforce workload.
  3.
• Able to attend Canberra office in-person 3 days per week.
  Additional requirements
  Acknowledge that DFAT has a contractor stand-down period within December and January each year. Duration of the stand-down is at DFAT's discretion and usually for a period of 4-6 weeks.
