Job Description

We have multiple vacancies available at SFIA Levels 3, 4, and 5 for DevOps Engineers, with responsibilities tailored to each level. These roles form part of long-term sustainment programs and will directly support Defence Intelligence Group operations. You'll work in secure environments to develop, maintain, and optimise enterprise software systems using DevOps practices to ensure resilience, compliance, and performance in mission-critical applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, develop and support enterprise systems in a DevSecOps environment
• Plan and manage software deployment and ensure alignment with compliance standards
• Troubleshoot and correct errors in existing software, responding to Level 2 and Level 3 support incidents
• Conduct software assessments, documentation and continuous improvement cycles
• Drive technology frameworks and provide technical input into tool and process selection
• Lead stakeholder engagement and guide cross-functional development teams
• Manage technical risks and mentor junior staff in coding, architecture and agile delivery
• Deliver innovative, secure and scalable solutions aligned with Commonwealth objectives

Education/Certifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline
• OR completed certifications through recognised coding academies
• Defence sector experience preferred

Knowledge/Skills Required

• Advanced proficiency in DevSecOps methodologies and tools
• Strong object-oriented development background with formalised processes
• Agile leadership experience with proven team coaching capabilities
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills underpinned by technical rigour
• Familiarity with the following technologies:
• Languages & Frameworks: JavaScript, React Framework, Cesium JS, Ozone Widget Framework
• DevOps Tools: GitLab, AWS, Kubernetes, GDAL, containerisation
• Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL
• Collaboration Tools: Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence)
• Product Assessment & Documentation: Microsoft Office, technical reporting packages
