Our client is one of Australia's largest Naval sustainment organisations leading the way for future Maritime capability and in light of recent government announcements, are actively looking to grow their experienced and dynamic system safety engineering team. Must have current or reinstatable clearance and previous Safety experience.


About the Opportunity
Reporting into the System Safety Program Engineering Manager, the Senior Safety Engineer provides system safety expertise to the Naval sustainment program. The successful individual will be responsible for working under minimal supervision and making system safety technical decisions that are safe, practical and suitable for implementation on the relevant platform.
These roles are permanent, full time position headquartered in Osborne, SA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system safety engineering tasks of a technically challenging nature which demonstrate knowledge of system safety engineering fundamentals
  • Prepare and review system safety engineering documentation such as System Safety Program Plans, Hazard Analysis Reports, Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Logs, Hazardous Material Registers and Safety Case Reports in accordance with program milestones
  • Perform system safety analysis tasks in accordance with Australian WHS legislation aligned to the program system safety standards applicable to the system safety program
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced personnel within the team, leading key initiatives that drive a system safety culture.


Skills & Experiences

  • Bachelor of Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Senior level experience in complex system safety programs
  • Prior experience with system safety tools is desirable; DOORS, BOWTIE XP, Assurance and Safety Case Environment softwares
  • Awareness of System Safety programs and associated tasks and techniques
  • A "can do" and continuous improvement attitude


Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals. Whilst our client will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
