Senior Systems Engineer

Are you a skilled Systems Engineer with a strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and V&V activities?

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join an industry leader based in Canberra. This role will have a focus on the systems engineering lifecycle, V&V activities and require the successful applicant to have a background in the ICT domain. Candidates with skills in VMWare, HyperV and Microsoft operating servers are encouraged to apply.

Role:

• Development and Management of engineering documentation, including system designs, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) supporting documentation, and Verification and Validation Plans
• Development and management of test strategies and programs to enable Verification and Validation of delivered designs, solutions, and products to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements.
• Conduct of obsolesce investigations and formal testing and acceptance activities.
• Management of project documentation and engineering plans. Co-ordination of System Safety documentation.
• Stakeholder engagement and analysis of customer requirements and operational scenarios.
• Guiding and participating as assigned in technical meetings and workshops providing systems engineering lifecycle advice and recommendations.
• Working with the broader project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the quality, schedule, and budgetary constraints of the project.
• Provide pre-sales engineering support for proposals and tenders.
• Provide input to the Strategic Direction of the company using knowledge of future technology and industry requirements
• Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to system and process improvements.

Required skills:

• Bachelor qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Engineering qualifications in Electrical, Electronics, Information Technology, or a relevant degree in Engineering, preferably majoring in Systems, Radio Frequency, Mechatronics, Electronics, Communications, or Aerospace; or
  • Bachelor of Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 year's professional experience in design and development of software solutions, communication solutions, traceability processes and test engineering as well as hands-on experience with specification, system installation, integration, and testing.
• Structured approach and proven experience in delivering systems engineering projects .
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build rapport with our clients and project stakeholders.
• Must be an Australian citizen, with either a current Defence security clearance (Baseline or above) or eligible to hold one.
• Demonstrated technical expertise with:
  • Microsoft Servers, Windows Desktops, Active Directory , group policy configuration
  • Strong knowledge and experience in IP networking technologies and higher level protocols
  • Network test methodologies, including protocol analysis tools and techniques.
  • Security principles and management (firewalls, access control lists)
  • Virtualisation technologies (VMware, HyperV, etc)
  • Cisco network hardware & IOS
