Job Title: Technical Officer - Advanced IT Systems
Location: Canberra or Sydney
Employment Type: On going contract - Full-Time (Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week; on-call rotation required)
Security Requirement: Must have an NV2-level security clearance

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Support Officer to join a high-profile ICT Modernisation Project. This role provides advanced technical support for mission-critical IT systems deployed across secure and distributed operational environments. You will work with cutting-edge infrastructure, applications, and communications systems, ensuring seamless operation even under challenging conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical support and resolve complex issues for critical IT systems.
  • Manage and support messaging infrastructure in multi-forest distributed environments.
  • Integrate complex software and ICT infrastructure to ensure reliable system functionality.
  • Maintain, patch, and upgrade systems according to formal patch management plans.
  • Develop contingency plans and workarounds to maintain operations during degraded conditions.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions across core IT systems.
  • Collaborate with partner support teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical incidents.
  • Create, review, and maintain SOPs, build guides, and other technical documentation.
  • Provide training and mentorship to on-site technical staff and support teams.
  • Build and deploy hardware in support of operational setups and system rollouts.
  • Manage digital certificates and maintain system security compliance.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for high-priority incidents.
  • Engage with vendors to resolve system-related issues efficiently.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are maintained across all incident management activities.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in:
    • Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and Skype administration
    • Citrix Virtual Desktop management
    • Hypervisor maintenance and administration
  • Familiarity with XMPP chat tools, VoIP, and Lotus Domino
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent documentation and technical writing capabilities

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Fortinet, Cisco networking, HYCU backup solutions, Titus, Liquidware, Ivanti, Red Hat, Tanium, Netbox, Carbon Black, and Elastic monitoring tools
  • Experience in highly regulated or secure ICT environments
  • Proactive problem-solving attitude and ability to manage multiple priorities

Work Arrangement:

  • Standard business hours, with potential for after-hours or weekend work by prior arrangement
  • Canberra or Sydney based
  • Participation in on-call rotation

Security and Compliance:

  • Must hold an NV2 security clearance
  • Must comply with ITAR regulations for handling certain ICT hardware and software products
