The Opportunity

Cleared is expanding its infrastructure capability to support mission-critical environments across Federal Government, Defence, and National Security clients.

We are seeking experienced Systems Administrators, Systems Engineers, and Infrastructure Engineers with deep expertise in Microsoft/Windows platforms and VMware virtualisation.

You will design, support, and optimise secure enterprise infrastructure systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance within highly classified environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, PKI, and enterprise Microsoft services

  • Manage and maintain VMware infrastructure, including vSphere, ESXi hosts, clusters, and virtual environments

  • Perform patching, upgrades, hardening, and lifecycle management of Windows and VMware platforms

  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across compute, storage, networking, and virtualisation layers

  • Ensure adherence to ASD ISM, Defence security requirements, and ICT compliance standards

  • Produce clear technical documentation, system designs, and operational procedures

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable systems

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers when required

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong hands-on experience administering Windows Server and core Microsoft infrastructure

  • Solid VMware experience - vSphere, ESXi, vCenter (NSX-T or vSAN beneficial but not mandatory)

  • Knowledge of storage, networking, and virtualisation architecture

  • Experience supporting secure environments, ideally Defence or Federal Government

  • Familiarity with automation or scripting tools (PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform - advantageous)

  • Strong communication and documentation skills

Education & Certifications (Highly Regarded)

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or related field

  • Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, AZ-104, etc.)

  • VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP preferred)
