The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government.

Job details

Application Architects design, implement and evolve the application environment in the organisation. They pay close attention to how applications interact with each other to form a service and aim to improve the way application support the business.

The Application Architect will, under broad direction from the Commonwealth, be responsible for a range of activities contributing to the design, build, test and operation of ICT systems to support the delivery of modern mobility solutions for senior government officials. Activities under the project include expanding the existing network, computing systems, desktop delivery solutions, complex gateway services, cloud services, and secure mobility solutions.

Candidates must be an Australian Citizen and must have a TSPV Security Clearance.

Key duties and responsibilities

· Provide technical guidance on solution design to ensure infrastructure integrates (draft test cases) well with application workflow for intuitive and engaging user experience.

· Draft business requirements into technical specifications by consulting with stakeholders in defining business services for application accesses using Virtual Desktop Interface (VDI).

· Proactively monitor, test & support end-user applications, perform performance tuning using various monitoring tools to ensure optimal configuration/performance.

· Lead the development of solution architectures, validate implementations directly with business users, infrastructure teams and/or functional areas.

· Lead identification of risks that arise from potential technical solution architectures. Suggest alternate solutions or countermeasures to mitigate risks.

· Evaluate requests for changes and/or deviations from specifications and recommend actions.

· Ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including ICT security) are applied correctly to meet IOC and FOC requirements.
