Radio Frequency Engineer

Cleared are thrilled to be supporting a government department on a major Satellite Communications Modernisation Project! This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge satellite communications systems that improve the performance, reliability, and resilience of global networks.

About the project:
The initiative is focused on upgrading satellite communications infrastructure across multiple sites, transitioning from legacy GEO systems to modern NGSO technologies, and enhancing connectivity for geographically dispersed locations.

What you'll be doing:

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining satellite communication systems

• Supporting both GEO and NGSO infrastructure

• Contributing to high-level design and technology investigations

• Deploying and maintaining satellite terminals across sites

• Collaborating with architecture, cyber assurance, and regional technical teams

• Travel to remote or international locations as required

What we're looking for:

• 5+ years of experience in satellite communications engineering

• Strong understanding of RF and microwave systems, including design, testing, and optimisation

• Experience delivering high-availability WAN services

• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, including designs and maintenance plans

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Willingness to travel as needed

• NV1 security clearance required

Desirable:

• Engineering degree or diploma in Electronics/Communications

• Experience with government or defence satellite communications projects

• Ability to mentor or guide junior engineers or field technicians

Location: Canberra, ACT (on-site, 5 days per week)
Contract: 12 months + possible extensions
Start: May 2026
