The Opportunity
We are seeking a Help Desk Engineer to support complex, secure ICT environments that underpin critical national programs. This role supports operators, analysts, mission teams, and secure facilities, ensuring systems remain reliable, compliant, and available.
You will work across a mix of onsite ICT support, systems administration, incident response, secure environment maintenance, and troubleshooting. This is a hands-on technical role with genuine impact.
This position can be based in:
- Canberra
- Adelaide
- Wollongong
- Melbourne
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex incident resolution across hardware, software, network, identity, and secure platform components
- Perform systems administration, patching, configuration management, and monitoring
- Support classified or secure ICT environments following strict security frameworks
- Conduct root-cause analysis and contribute to long-term problem management
- Provide hands-on support including device deployments, workstation builds, secure network patching, cabling, and hardware lifecycle tasks
- Support VIP/operational users directly where remote support is insufficient
- Collaborate with cyber, engineering, network, and operations teams on upgrades, integrations, and escalated incidents
What You Bring
Essential
- Degree in ICT or equivalent industry experience/certifications
- Solid experience in ICT support, service desk, systems administration, or operational support
- Strong capability across Windows administration, servers/endpoints, Active Directory/IAM, networking fundamentals, and monitoring tools
- Ability to take ownership of complex incidents and provide technical guidance
- Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach
- Experience mentoring junior staff (desirable)
Highly Regarded
- Experience within Defence, intelligence, or other secure government environments
- Familiarity with classified networks, secure ICT operations, or compliance frameworks
Security Requirements
This role requires Australian Citizenship and an active TSPV clearance.
Applicants with TSPV upgrade/downgrade pathways may also be considered.
