Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced ICT Security Specialist (SCAD 4) to support the Special Access Programs ICT Network (SPNet) within the Special Access Program Branch of the Force Integration Division. This role is essential for ensuring the sustainment and enhancement of SPNet, meeting evolving user and policy requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sustain and maintain SPNet infrastructure in line with Defence policies

  • Design and develop new system architectures to support increased user requirements

  • Establish and implement robust testing frameworks for SPNet systems

  • Monitor and maintain SPNet security posture, including conducting audits and security health assessments

  • Develop and maintain security programs and policies for ICT systems

  • Administer and monitor SIEM tools, firewalls, and other security mechanisms

  • Identify and recommend security improvements across ICT systems

  • Provide expert advice during change processes and risk reduction initiatives

  • Assist in investigations relating to security incidents

  • Fulfil continuous monitoring obligations for secured ICT environments

  • Perform other relevant tasks as directed by the Commonwealth

Education/Certifications Required

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or related field

  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent highly regarded

Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Proven experience with security incident monitoring, SIEM tools, and firewall administration

  • Strong understanding of Defence ICT systems, frameworks, and compliance requirements

  • Ability to analyse complex security environments and recommend enhancements

  • Expertise in developing, implementing, and reviewing security policies and documentation

  • Experience in conducting security audits and vulnerability assessments

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to complex investigations and reporting
