Job Description
Cyber Threat Analysts understand cyber intrusion activity and use strong research and analytical skills to produce threat modelling, intelligence assessments and reporting.

ASD requires multiple EL1 equivalent Cyber Threat Analysts.
Successful candidates will be allocated to business areas based on operational needs following completion of the OSA.
Duties and Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and deliver complex briefs and cyber threat intelligence reports on ASD and national security issues.
  • Lead research and analysis of cyber threat actors to provide situational awareness and expert advice on emerging threats.
  • Conduct and mentor others in analysing cyber threat event data and fusing findings with all?source intelligence to identify, model and track threat actors and recommend required actions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in analytical tools and techniques used to develop cyber threat assessments.
  • Develop, maintain and improve standard operating procedures and supporting documentation for cyber threat intelligence operations.
  • Design and deliver team training workshops and capability development activities.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and collaborate to deliver tailored intelligence reporting, while identifying opportunities to support capability maturity.
  • Assess and evaluate cyber threat intelligence strategies, initiatives, projects, policies and procedures.

Education/Certifications required

  • Diploma or Bachelor of Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, intelligence analysis or equivalent experience in Penetration Testing, Host or Network Forensics, or Intelligence Analysis.

Knowledge/Skills required

  • Demonstrated experience undertaking complex threat intelligence, modelling tasks or threat assessments.
  • Experience creating and maintaining complex cyber security threat reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical tools and techniques used to produce cyber threat activity assessments.
  • Certification as CREST Certified Network Intrusion Analyst or CREST Certified Malware Reverse Engineer is highly desirable.
