Senior Maritime Warfare Instructor HMAS Watsons Bay
ACTIONS
Cleared are working with the Royal Australian Navy and are looking to speak to an NV1 Assistant Maritime Warfare Instructor.
The purpose of this position is to provide advanced navigation training and advanced tactical training to RAN Junior Officers to a competency whereby they can perform the duties of an Officer-of-the-Watch on board a RAN vessel.
The role is integral in leading the education of students (RAN Junior Officers), so they can perform the duties of an Officer of the Watch at sea. The key medium of the training is through simulation and instruction.
Position Description
- Provide specialist Navigation Subject Mater Expertise, or, specialist Warfare Subject Matter Expertise, during the development and delivery of training at the RAN BTF incorporating the Bridge Simulator.
- Deliver training at the direction of OIC BTF / SNW including, during periods of intensive training, out of hours watchkeeping.
- Provide course support including, but not limited to, programming, presentations, briefings, or examinations.
- Contribute as directed to TA-MW course review/development process.
- Maintain an up-to-date working understanding of the user functionality of the Bridge Simulator System.
- Maintain a contemporary knowledge of RAN Navigation tactics, techniques and procedures.
- Undertake other tasks as directed by TA-MW, through the Training Lead
- Complete annual awareness training courses on CAMPUS online training suite. When programmed complete courses in Training and Assessment (Instructors).
- Conduct refresher training and BTF systems Training at commencement of employment.
- Adhere to the ADF & Serco value system, Code of Conduct, and rules aboard HMAS WATSON.
Required Skills
- Platform Endorsement on any major war vessel (such as Frigate or Destroyer) or minor war vessel (such as a patrol boat) within the RAN, or Commonwealth equivalent.
- Bridge Watchkeeping Certificate on any major war vessel (such as a Frigate or Destroyer) within the RAN, or Commonwealth equivalent.
- Successfully completed the RAN Long Navigation Course, or Commonwealth equivalent.
- Fully vaccinate against COVID 19 in accordance with state health regulations
- Platform Endorsement on any major war vessel (such as Frigate or Destroyer) or minor war vessel (such as a patrol boat) within the RAN, or Commonwealth equivalent.
- Successfully completed the RAN Principal Warfare Officers (PWO) Course, or Commonwealth,equivalent.
Desired
- Obtained Platform Endorsement & Bridge Watchkeeping Certificate on any Frigate/Destroyer within the RAN, or Commonwealth equivalent.
- Minimum of 18 months experience as the PWO or Navigating Officer on a RAN Frigate or Destroyer, within the last 5 years, or Commonwealth equivalent.
This is permanent role based at HMAS Watson in Sydney.
You must hold a current NV1 security clearance.
