Job details

This RFQ is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support DEF100 Capability Elements and other Defence projects as required. The role involves both design and implementation of network systems, including producing system designs, topologies, configuration databases, and documentation. The engineer will also plan infrastructure upgrades and assist in the installation and configuration of equipment.

The role requires working across multiple sub-projects, collaborating with teams, and maintaining the highest standards of sensitivity and discretion in a secure environment. Candidates must hold a Positive Vetting security clearance and may be required to undergo a Defence Intelligence Suitability Assessment (DISA).


Key duties and responsibilities

* Lead design, implementation, and upgrades of network architectures across multiple projects
* Produce detailed network designs, configurations, and documentation
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues using network management tools
* Identify system interdependencies and coordinate integrated solutions with stakeholders
* Provide guidance and direction to integrated teams to meet project schedules
* Support leadership efforts to improve capabilities across multiple network domains
* Maintain documentation, SOPs, and schedule of work reporting


Technical skills / Desirable experience

* Strong understanding of network architectures, topologies, and modern networking technologies
* Experience in classified network environments
* Hands-on experience with configuration, deployment, and support of network systems
* Familiarity with network management tools, error detection, and recovery routines
* Ability to liaise effectively with technical teams, business partners, and stakeholders


About the organisation

The Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO) provides geospatial intelligence and technical solutions in support of national security and Defence operations. This program involves multiple Defence projects requiring high security, operational discretion, and technical expertise.

* Develop and maintain network architectures to meet business requirements
* Produce detailed network design, configuration, implementation, and support documentation

* Diagnose and resolve system and environment problems
* Coordinate solutions across stakeholders and teams

Desirable criteria
* Experience with classified network systems
* Knowledge of NTDS, HSIN, or SINT networks (desirable)
* Strong collaboration and leadership skills
