Working arrangements Owing to the ongoing requirement for technical access and technical capability development on Defence approved and accredited systems, office accommodation will be provided at DSTG Fairbairn (Canberra, ACT), Fishermans Bend (Melbourne, VIC), and/or Edinburgh (Adelaide, SA), including access to computer networks, when required. Working from home arrangements are available as approved by the Commonwealth and are negotiated based on work package requirements.
Maximum hours 37.5 hours per week Security clearance

Job details
Defence Science and Technology Group is requiring the services of platform and software engineers to lead and contribute to a number of platform deployments and software prototyping activities.
The nature of some of the implementation requirements include:
A deployable platform (as code) that enables DevSecOps, ModelOps and Data Platform which is to be configured and deployed onto multiple environments from Official to Top Secret
Software prototyping using cloud-native technologies (e.g. containerisation, microservices) current examples include:
? Intelligence domain prototype application
? Recognised Logistics Picture prototype application
Candidates will be evaluated based on their submitted CV's and one page pitch and how well they address the evaluation criteria and key duties and responsibilities. The candidates will also be evaluated on their proposed hourly rate.
Key duties and responsibilities
The proposed personnel will have demonstrated experience as outlined in their CV, in the following.
Proficiency in DevSecOps processes including use of agile methodologies, tooling, continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) and monitoring and observability of environments
Proficiency in one or more of the following:
infrastructure as code (IaC) and related automation of cloud and on-premise environments and/or
proficiency with development of microservices and web based applications using Java and/or Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
proficiency in development of analytic dashboards and machine learning
Software and/or platform architecture design and implementation
Technical skills
* SDLC knowledge and experience
* CI/CD Pipelines
* IaC automation
* Software Development
About the team
Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) is leading software development and platform engineering activities to inform continued evolution of capabilities within the Defence and Intelligence enterprise.
DSTG is developing a pattern for modern software development, data and AI capabilities that are able to be deployed on multiple cloud environments (both public and private) and on airgapped (disconnected) networks. It will encompass alignment between Defence, WoAG, international allies and industry security practices and principles including focus on supply chain security in the software development landscape.
DSTG is also developing software prototypes including but not limited to Recognised Logistics Picture, Intelligence Mission Data Production Capabilities and Find, Fix and Track (F2T) Solutions.
It is exploring and demonstrating the state of the art for utilisation of cloud services and adoption of architectural alignment with other government agencies and international allies.

1. Demonstrated experience with agile software development methodologies (ie scrum) and practices(ie Git, Confluence, Jira, GitLab)
2. Demonstrated experience developing software applications and/or infrastructure as code deployments using modern CI/CD techniques and technologies
3. Demonstrated experience developing software and/or platforms within the Defence or Intelligence Enterprises
