Senior Wintel Technician - NV2 Cleared | Canberra or Sydney
Cleared Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a major Defence program seeking a Senior Wintel Technician to join their growing team. This is a critical ICT role supporting a high-profile maritime capability, offering the opportunity to contribute technical expertise to the design, build, and deployment of secure infrastructure in line with Defence and security compliance.
To be eligible, you must hold an active NV2 clearance and be willing to work in a secure Defence environment.

About the Role
As a Senior Wintel Technician, you will provide subject matter expertise across Microsoft-based infrastructure, ensuring alignment with security frameworks and technical governance. You'll play a key role in building and supporting highly available environments across partially connected and degraded operational states.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Design, deploy, and maintain secure Microsoft-based ICT infrastructure.
• 
  Analyse and resolve complex technical issues across infrastructure and applications.
• 
  Develop and peer-review SOPs, build guides, and technical artefacts.
• 
  Ensure technical solutions meet Defence governance and security standards.
• 
  Provide SME-level advice to project stakeholders and end users.
• 
  Contribute to system design decisions and risk mitigation planning.

Technical Skills & Experience Required

• 
  Strong experience delivering and supporting Defence ICT systems.
• 
  Expert-level capability in Windows Server 2019, SQL, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, PKI, VMware VCF, and PowerShell.
• 
  Proven ability to support fault-tolerant systems in deployed or disconnected environments.
• 
  Experience leading and mentoring technical Wintel teams.
• 
  Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• 
  Ability to translate requirements and standards into practical design and deployment.

Desirable Skills

• 
  Knowledge of SEA2273 Minerva systems.
• 
  Familiarity with Nutanix infrastructure.
• 
  Experience with ISM compliance, Defence governance frameworks, and deployed environments.
• 
  Ability to rapidly build and automate proof-of-concept systems.

Work Arrangement

• 
  Full-time, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)
• 
  Occasional agreed overtime may apply
• 
  Preferred location: Canberra or Sydney
• 
  Must be eligible for DSN access
• 
  Compliance with US ITAR regulations is required

Security Requirements

• 
  Must hold and maintain an NV2 clearance prior to commencement.
• 
  Australian citizenship is required.
