Cleared Recruitment is working with a global IT services provider delivering essential support services into the Defence and National Security space.
We are looking to engage a Level 2/3 Support Engineer to provide onsite technical support to a secure customer environment in Melbourne.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity with likely extension and requires 5 days per week onsite.
Due to the nature of the environment, an active Baseline or NV1 clearance is mandatory.
As this role is within Defence, only Australian citizens with an existing security clearance are eligible to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2/3 Help Desk support aligned to ITIL principles between 0830-1700, Monday to Friday.
- Resolve service requests and incidents (approx. 25 per week) across SIMOD Network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot physical and virtual server issues; support system remediation.
- Resolve network and user access issues; install and manage network switches.
- Maintain the SIMOD Windows SOE and implement updates via SCCM.
- Manage updates and patching (security, OS, apps) across over 30 software items.
- Administer Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Support remote OS builds (PXE) and implement ASD/ACSC Essential 8 measures.
- Manage system software updates for Red Hat Linux and HPC systems.
- Assist with hardware lifecycle support and vendor warranty assessments.
- Ensure compliance with ISM and internal security policies.
- Participate in audit activities including structured asset audits.
- Document processes, develop standard operating procedures, and deliver system documentation for SIMOD SN0445.
- Manage incident, request, and problem tickets, escalating and resolving as needed using internal ticketing tools.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in Level 2/3 support within secure government or Defence environments.
- Strong background in Windows Server environments, SCCM, and SOE management.
- Experience supporting Red Hat Linux systems and high-performance computing environments.
- Solid understanding of network switch configuration and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with ASD Essential 8, ISM, and ACSC compliance measures.
- Demonstrated ability to document technical processes and work collaboratively in Defence contexts.
- NV1 or Baseline clearance is essential.
