Job Title: Network Administrator (APS6 Equivalent) - TSPV
Location: Canberra, ACT (Onsite Only)
Clearance: Must hold current TSPV (Positive Vetting) clearance
Estimated Start Date: 1 December 2025
Contract: 12 months with up to 2 x 12-month extensions

Join a vital Australian national security agency within the Department of Defence, responsible for protecting Australia's interests from global threats through foreign signals intelligence, cybersecurity, and offensive cyber operations. This agency supports some of the most sensitive government communications and systems, making this role crucial for national safety and resilience.

As a Network Administrator, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing secure ICT systems that support modern mobility solutions used by senior government officials. Your expertise will ensure these critical networks operate efficiently, securely, and adapt to evolving challenges.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Consolidate legacy networks onto the current secure baseline network architecture

  • Configure, implement, and document network installations and upgrades

  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain network hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, gateways, and wireless equipment (Palo-Alto, SILICONROAD technologies)

  • Manage network protocols and topology including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing with BGP and OSPF

  • Monitor and support enterprise proxy, load balancing systems, and network automation tools such as Ansible and Nexus Dashboard Orchestrator

  • Provide second-level incident response and technical support for a deployed Top Secret network environment

  • Work under broad direction within a complex, secure environment to meet evolving operational requirements

Key Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience with Juniper, Cisco, or HP network equipment

  • Relevant Juniper and/or Cisco certifications highly regarded

  • Strong knowledge of network protocols including BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP

  • Experience with deployable and mobile network technologies

  • Skilled in network configuration, testing, and installation within secure environments

  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible

Working Conditions:

  • Onsite in Canberra only - remote or interstate working arrangements cannot be accommodated

  • Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) required before commencement

  • Maximum 40 hours per week; no more than 1920 hours in a 12-month period
