Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead ICT Security Specialist to support a critical Defence program based in Canberra. This role involves leading security assessments, managing stakeholder relationships, and guiding the implementation of robust ICT security governance across complex systems and services.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the review and preparation of technical systems for security assessment
  • Manage relationships with internal technical teams and external partners
  • Oversee ICT system security control assessments and ensure milestone delivery
  • Provide expert advice on ICT system security documentation, including architecture and design
  • Conduct threat and risk assessments using frameworks such as STRIDE and MITRE
  • Support systems in achieving authority to operate status
  • Develop and maintain security documentation processes and frameworks
  • Contribute to ICT security policy implementation and governance practices

Education/Certifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an IT-related discipline
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CRISC) are highly regarded

Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in ICT security, including architecture and risk management
  • Strong understanding of Essential Eight, ISM, and PSPF compliance frameworks
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing complex projects and stakeholder relationships
  • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies and security accreditation frameworks
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
