System Engineers - System Administrator

System Engineers (2x) | Canberra | 6-Month Contract

Cleared Recruitment is partnering with a leading IT advisory delivering high-level infrastructure and cloud solutions to Federal Government clients. We're seeking two experienced System Engineers for a 6-month contract starting September, based in Canberra.

About the Role

As part of a high-performing engineering team, you will support and enhance enterprise server hosting environments across Windows, RHEL, VMware, Azure, and EntraID. You'll be involved in critical projects while also providing BAU support, ensuring system reliability, and applying security best practices aligned with the Information Security Manual (ISM).

Key Responsibilities

• 
  Provide end-to-end support for server hosting solutions (Windows, RHEL, VMware, and Azure).
• 
  Create and maintain as-built documentation, SOPs, and technical guides.
• 
  Troubleshoot and resolve application hosting and infrastructure issues to minimize downtime.
• 
  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business and security objectives.
• 
  Apply strong technical knowledge to optimize performance and maintain system integrity.

Critical Skills (across both roles)

• 
  Active Directory & EntraID administration.
• 
  VMware (vSphere, ESXi) and virtualization expertise.
• 
  Azure cloud services and integration.
• 
  RHEL/Linux system administration.
• 
  Veeam for backup and recovery.
• 
  Strong understanding of security best practices under the ISM.
• 
  Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

What We're Looking For

  Proven experience as a System Engineer in enterprise or secure government environments.
• 
  No Clearnce required
• 
  Ability to work on-site in Canberra.
• 
  A team-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
